Hurricane Florence Relief - We give thanks to God and to those who have responded with ways to help our neighbors in the aftermath of Hurricane Florence.
Salem Presbytery provides the following informative/helpful links for this moment of need. More will certainly follow in the days ahead.
From Presbytery of Coastal Carolina:
Their offices were flooded and staff were working out of other locations for most of this past week. See their website in the link above for more information.
From Presbytery of New Hope:
New Hope created a Hurricane Florence Response & Recovery page with loads of information re: Donations, Flood Buckets, Resources for Those In Need, Resources for Those Able to Assist.
From Presbyterian Disaster Assistance:
PDA is currently deploying teams to presbyteries affected by Hurricane Florence to meet with leadership coordinating immediate and long term relief efforts. After initial needs are addressed, PDA will remain to provide spiritual/emotional care and Long Term Recovery. Gifts to PDA assist for weeks, months, years to come.
From Church World Service:
"Thousands of CWS Kits, Blankets and Emergency Cleanup Buckets are being deployed and distributed. Help us continue to rush supplies to people who need them, and make sure that some of our most vulnerable neighbors - refugee and immigrant communities - can rebuild." From West New Bern Presbyterian Church - Pastor Jeff’s former church will be heavily involved in relief efforts. Many of the refugee families that are connected to the church suffered extensive damage. The session has established a restricted fund for disaster relief, and will administer any donations. Checks should be made payable to the West New Bern Presbyterian Church, marked “Disaster Relief”, and mailed to the church at 1701 Lucerne Way, New Bern, NC 28560.
As you can see, there are many ways to help our neighbors in need. We offer these options for you to pray about and consider as we all seek to move ahead in mission and service.
The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms.
